Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you bring to Voyant?

My background is in operations and finance, most recently at the University of Liverpool, where I spent 24 years working across the Life Sciences and Science & Engineering faculties.

I bring a focus on how things actually get delivered – operational infrastructure that supports growth, budgets that hold up, processes that scale, and decisions grounded in good judgement.  

What attracted you to Voyant (and its technology)?

I joined in April, drawn by the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing business.  Given the current climate, what we do is highly relevant and the mission clearly matters.

That said, whilst the technology is key, the people and company culture are exceptional – enthusiastic and genuinely invested in making what we do a success. 

In your view, what makes Voyant different from other defence technology companies?

Honestly, I’m much less qualified than someone with a technical or sector background to compare Voyant to its peers. We’re focussed on developing software that makes platforms and sensors smarter – including ensuring different types of sensors work better together – and with a real focus on delivering capability.   

Defence capability increasingly relies on collaboration. How important are partnerships to Voyant’s strategy?

Fundamental – no single organisation owns the whole picture, and partnerships are how you combine specialist expertise -a principle that works generally and not just in a defence context.

What has impressed you most since joining Voyant?

The pace! Every day is like running a marathon yet all decisions are well thought out and considered, processes we’re establishing make sense, there is good judgement and teamwork – where everyone contributes.  

What problem are you personally determined to solve?

Building the processes and infrastructure that let us achieve full compliance without losing our agility to demonstrate our client-readiness. 

Outside of work, what do you enjoy?

I live in North Wales, so my life is basically a long walk with an energetic golden retriever, in weather that ranges from rain to more rain although I am enjoying the current freak sunshine.   I’m learning the piano (slowly), knit (extensively), enjoy wine (frequently).   We’ve also recently moved into an 18th-century stone cottage so I like the idea of chickens and growing ‘stuff’ one day – all of which reads like the profile of someone’s nan, but I am a nan too!
