Voyant advances next-generation drone navigation system for GNSS-Denied environments

Voyant has announced the development of a highly accurate aerial navigation system designed to operate in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-denied environments. The programme is being delivered in collaboration with a leading high-tech aerial drone manufacturer
and a partner nation within NATO.

The system leverages advanced LiDAR technology alongside Voyant’s proprietary data fusion capabilities to enable precise navigation where traditional satellite-based positioning is unavailable, disrupted, or degraded. The solution is intended to support a wide range of mission-critical applications, including defence, security, and emergency response operations in complex and contested environments.

James Norwood, CEO of Voyant, commented:
“This contract demonstrates our enhanced capability to deliver high-tech, mission-critical systems in GNSS-denied regions. In collaboration with our partners, we are pushing the boundaries of physics to deliver highly capable, mission-resilient navigation solutions for the most challenging operational environments.” James Norwood, CEO of Voyant, commented:

The development comes at a time of increasing geopolitical tension and rapid evolution in the use of autonomous and semi-autonomous systems. Recent conflicts, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, have underscored the growing strategic importance of drone technology for reconnaissance, targeting, and logistics, as well as the vulnerability of GNSS-dependent systems to electronic warfare and signal disruption.

Voyant’s solution is designed to be fully drone-agnostic, enabling seamless
integration across a wide range of aerial platforms without dependence on a specific manufacturer. This flexibility ensures that operators can deploy the navigation system across diverse fleets, enhancing interoperability and future-proofing mission capabilities as drone technologies continue to evolve.

By combining cutting-edge sensing with robust data fusion, Voyant aims to set a new standard for reliable navigation in environments where accuracy and resilience are paramount.
